In simple terms, I'd never imagined just how big an impact a barrel would make. I had one of those cheap plastic Insta plunge tubs, hardly used it, felt little benefit from it as it felt flimsy and not easy to get comfortable in, then it sprung a leak and that was that.

This barrel has provided an almost instant destress, there's something very calming about getting into the wooden barrel, lowering to the fitted seat, closing my eyes, controlling my breathing and feeling calmness wash over me, and cold water obviously.

It's one of the best purchases I've made in the last few years!

A little advice though, mine was a red wine barrel and you can tell from the smell but that's diminished quickly with each water refresh and it's not unpleasant anyway so don't worry about that. It also seems that the inside of the barrel has been burnt with a blow torch or flame thrower, not sure why but it does mean there are black bits in the water for the first few fills, I used a stiff bristled brush to rub the inside and rinse/ was and they've almost completely gone now.

The seat, lid and tap supplied are all as expected. Service was great, delivery was great, I'd wholeheartedly recommend a barrel from these guys and don't underestimate the positive impact it'll have on your life.

We were advised to go to Celtic Timber for an oak mantel by our HETAS engineer Hal, who is installing our new wood burner. We are glad we did, we now have a lovely oak beam for our new fireplace. Many thanks to Celtic Timber and Hal!
