This is truly a quality Welsh natural product which has simply been melted and filtered through a cotton muslin cloth twice to remove hive debris.
This is a natural product and colour will vary between batches
Any barrel left without water for a sustained period of time will lose the moisture in the staves. Beeswax is the natural way to repair barrels in this condition until they are water-tight due to stave swelling.
This method is used in distilleries to maintain barrels between fills.
Instructions:
Heat one end of the beeswax block with a lighter until the end starts to melt.
Rub the end to the affected site on the barrel across the gap in the staves/bung area.
Note - Before you apply, if you can empty the barrel to below the area affected, then once dry, the beeswax will harden in under 24 hours, and a refill can be attempted.
Once refilled, the water will naturally start to swell the staves (which might push the beeswax out of its position) reintroducing its normal seal.
